Committed to more sustainable tourism

Conscient of the impact of our activities, we have always integrated the environment into our development and achievements. As we are also a builder, we designed the building to optimize its energy performance as much as possible. In 2024, we decided to go a step further by formalizing our approach under the name Alparena Goes Green, an ambitious initiative to make our establishment ever more responsible in its operation.

The  Green Key label, internationally recognized for its rigorous and demanding criteria for sustainable tourism, rewards our efforts and pushes us to go even further in our commitment.

The Green Key Label

Present on five continents, the Green Key label is the first international sustainable tourism label for tourist accommodation and restaurants. The criteria for obtaining it are rigorous and cover several areas such as water and energy management, waste management, responsible purchasing, local involvement, respect for biodiversity and raising awareness among staff and customers.

By choosing a Green Key-labeled establishment, travelers support initiatives that preserve the environment, while enjoying a quality experience. This label is a guarantee of confidence for vacations that combine comfort and greener tourism.

Concrete actions in favor of the environment

Thanks to its high level of insulation and south-facing aspect, as well as the installation of centralized technical management systems to control electricity (home automation screens in suites and rooms), the Hôtel Alparena**** & Spa stands out for its low energy consumption, reaching just 140 kWh/m² in 2023, well below the average for 4* hotels (289 kWh/m²). What’s more, we use green electricity (100% of our electricity comes from renewable sources) and pellet heating!

On the catering side, we have banned individual packaging at breakfast and encourage our customers to limit food waste, notably by asking them to choose their half-board menus in advance.

In the guest rooms, we have also banned individually-wrapped welcome products in the bathrooms, and installed refillable dispensers. We now distribute only solid soaps. We also encourage our customers not to ask for sheets or towels to be changed during their stay.

Labeling is not an end in itself, but rather the promise of a long-term commitment, and pushes us to constantly improve our practices on a daily basis.

Join us in this process and experience a holiday that combines comfort, well-being and respect for the environment!
